2011 Victorian Indigenous Art Awards shortlist announced
Victorian Premier and Minister for the Arts, Ted Baillieu announced the shortlist for the 2011 Victorian Indigenous Art Awards on 18 February.
Established in 2004, the Awards aim to support, develop and showcase Indigenous art produced in Victoria. Twenty five finalists have been named in the shortlist. They are in the running for prizes valued at over $50,000 in total, including two awards supported by CAL’s Cultural Fund.
In announcing the shorting Mr Baillieu said ‘the shortlisted works represent the vitality and diversity of Victoria’s Indigenous arts sector, ranging from traditional crafts and painting through to digital art, photography and sculpture.’
The Awards will be presented on 11 March and a finalist exhibition will be held from 12 March to 2 April at fortyfivedownstairs, 45 Flinders Lane, Melbourne. This will be a free exhibition.
