Visual artists and Copyright Agency

Copyright Agency’s core services to artists are:
  • collecting and distributing copyright fees for educational and government use of artistic works: Copyright Agency has been appointed by the government to manage the ‘statutory licences’ in the Copyright Act that allow educational institutions and governments to use artistic works and other material without permission, provided they make fair payment
  • as the artists’ agent, licensing works to corporations and others: the agency arrangement is non-exclusive and artists remain free to license their works themselves
  • collecting and distributing resale royalties: Copyright Agency was appointed in 2010 to manage the artists’ resale royalty scheme.
Copyright Agency’s other services include:
  • information and seminars
  • e-alerts
  • funding for artists’ projects and skills development through our Cultural Fund
  • advocacy for artists’ rights
Copyright Agency’s members include illustrators, cartoonists, photographers and fine artists. Copyright Agency’s highest paid creator member is an artist.
