Libby Gleeson appointed to CAL Board Celebrated children's author and former teacher, Libby Gleeson has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Australian copyright management company, Copyright Agency Limited (CAL). Libby is an Australian Society of Authors (ASA) appointed director and will be replacing Susan Hayes, who has stepped down to work at CAL. Libby Gleeson is a former teacher in secondary and tertiary institutions. She has been a full-time writer for fifteen years and is currently the Treasurer of the ASA. “Libby Gleeson's experience as both an author and educator complements CAL 's role as a bridge between creators and users of copyright material,” CAL Chairman Brian Johns said today in welcoming Libby Gleeson's appointment to the Board. “Libby brings valuable experience from the creative industries as an author and active arts administrator,” CAL CEO Michael Fraser said. “We also look forward to benefiting from her experience as a teacher and first-hand user of copyright material in the education environment.” “Copyright and author rights are facing a critical juncture with the advent of new media and technology. It's an exciting and challenging time and I look forward to contributing,” Libby Gleeson said.
Libby was a director of OzAuthors 2000 - 2004 and has been a director of BookMite, Pty Ltd since 1996. She is also the winner of the 2005 Meritorious Service to Public Education and Training Award. Libby was Chair of the ASA from 1999 to 2001. She is published over twenty titles in children's and youth literature and has been short listed for numerous Australian and international literary awards.
