APA-FT

The Australian Public Affairs – Full Text (APA-FT) service started July 2000. It is a subscription service, available only to registered users, with marketing handled by RMIT Publishing. CAL secures permission from copyright owners to participate in this project and manages the payment of royalties.

There are over 200 journals comprehensively indexed in APA-FT, and many more selectively indexed. Full-text is available for articles from 1995 onwards. The index itself dates back to 1945. Further details are available here.

CAL represents over 600 journals with full-text content in APAFT (although some of these may be only for two or three articles). This means several hundred CAL members are already benefiting from this project.

For a full list of the journals that have more than 10 articles included, click here.

Although material from newspapers and tabloid-size publications is indexed in APA-FT, logistical issues with digitisation have prevented these materials being scanned, even when CAL has a licence from members. In general, only material that is A4 page size or smaller in print-copy form is presently able to be scanned into APA-FT.

The National Library of Australia is responsible for content selection. Details of the guidelines under which material is selected for Australian Public Affairs-Full Text is available here.
