CAL's suite of licences can assist press clipping services and their clients in meeting their obligations under Australian copyright law with a minimum of fuss.
Many organisations now employ a press clipping service to assist their staff in keeping abreast of industry developments. An effective press clipping service is now considered an essential element in any successful media strategy.
Because newspaper articles are copyright works, CAL offers press clipping licences so that organisations can have access to the works they need while the copyright owner receives fair compensation.
CAL licences 'short-cut' the process of obtaining permission for copying of works directly from copyright owners. With a CAL licence your organisation is granted permission to copy from any of the works represented by CAL. Information can then be copied and distributed while it is still current.
CAL offers press-clipping services a number of licence options:
- the photocopying licence allows press clipping services and other organisations to photocopy and distribute clips;
- the Scan to Fax licence allows articles to be scanned into a database and faxed to clients; and
- the Copying and Communication licence allows press-clipping services to scan articles and distribute them to clients digitally.
CAL also offers downstream licences that allow the clients of press clipping services to internally distribute and store their press clippings by email or intranet.
