Submission to Government on Proposed Introduction of Artists' Resale Royalty Scheme
CAL recently made a submission to government strongly supporting the adoption of a resale royalty scheme to remunerate artists when their works are resold. The submission was in response to a discussion paper circulated by government.
CAL believes that such a scheme is long overdue and that it will provide creators of visual art in Australia with an equitable income for the use of their works, and provide an incentive for future creation of such work.
CAL is pleased that government is committed to implementing such a scheme and looks forward to the next step. Government is due to table legislation in the winter sittings of parliament.
