On 24 April, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee announced a comprehensive review of US copyright law.

In his announcement of the review the Chairman referred to the recent testimony to the Committee of the Register of Copyright, Maria Pallante (see blogpost here). The Committee will:

…hold a comprehensive series of hearings on U.S. copyright law in the months ahead. The goal of these hearings will be to determine whether the laws are still working in the digital age. I welcome all interested parties to submit their views and concerns to the Committee.

The announcement was timed to coincide with World Intellectual Property Day, designated by the members of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to mark the coming into force of the WIPO Convention in 1970. The theme for 2013 is Creativity: The Next Generation.
