NSW Premier’s Teacher Scholarships open for application

Applications are currently open for the NSW Premier’s Copyright Agency Creativity and Innovation Scholarship. The $15,000 grant is available for a teacher in preschools, primary and secondary schools or TAFE NSW institutes, to research teaching methods which promote Creativity and Innovation.
Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund has supported the Premier’s Creativity and Innovation Scholarship for the last six years, recognising it to be a great demonstration of support to the education sector and an excellent platform for teachers to develop skills and subject knowledge which they can integrate into their teaching.
Cultural Fund and Reading Australia Officer, Nicola Evans, says, “Supporting teachers to explore creativity and innovation in teaching, helps to promote excellence in Australian education practice. We are proud to contribute this important scholarship.”
The award supports travel to educational institutions and centres of excellence in Australia or overseas, allowing the teacher to develop their career and explore an innovative approach to education.
2016 recipient, Matt Scott, who is the Head Teacher of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Innovation Faculty at Canobolas Rural Technology High School in Orange, travelled to Arkansas, Dallas and San Diego to investigate STEM learning in the United States.
“The funding from the Copyright Agency was critical, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve so much without that support,” he said. “I can, without a doubt say that our STEM programs here in New South Wales are as good, if not better than anything I saw during my trip. There are many things I learned along the way that will help both my school and others to advance STEM education.”
