Copyright compliance simplified for Colleges and RTOs

February 6, 2019

In response to feedback, the Copyright Agency has developed a new online service to help Private Education Providers to easily apply for and update their copyright licences.

Known as RightsPortal, the new platform uses the latest technology to make sure that the customer experience is greatly enhanced.

Copyright Agency’s Director, Education & Government Licensing, Malcolm Bell, says: “We always strive to provide the best possible service to our customers. We’ve reduced the steps involved and provided more visual cues and help boxes along the way so that licence application and update through the RightsPortal will be seamless and easy.”

“1000-plus Private Education Providers are currently licensed. Feedback is that teaching materials throughout the institution improve considerably upon take-up of an education licence, as does student and teacher satisfaction,” says Malcolm. “Fees from the licences are distributed to our author, publisher and creator members. This allows them to continue to develop new high-quality content that educators value the most.”

The RightsPortal features:

  • A secure ‘My Account’ tab with increased visibility on licence status
  • Faster processing of licence updates and new applications due to enhanced systems integration
  • More visual cues and help boxes to guide the user

The new platform has been tested with a selection of customers before launch. “I found it really easy on the new platform,” says Peter Hanley, Director of FIVE Tuition. “A good upgrade!”
