2010 Career Fund Projects

Some of the projects supported by the Creative Industries Career Fund in 2010 include:

Express Media $1,400 Express Media used funding to pay speakers and run workshops to develop the skills of their editorial staff.
Cardigan Comics $3,800 Funding was used to bring a graphic novelist to Melbourne for a masterclass in graphic novel creation.
Dianne Wolfer $920 Diane used funding from the Creative Industries Career Fund to pay for her accommodation and meal costs as she participated in Australian Children’s Book Authors’ presence on behalf of SCWBI at the 2010 Bologna Book Fair.
Janet Hutchinson $3,500 Funding supported Janet’s participation in the Northern Territory’s 2010 Wordstorm festival, where she conducted workshops for authors.
Mark Ryan $1,700 Mark attended the 2010 Society for Cinema and Media Studies(SCMS) conference, Archiving the Future/Mobilzing the Past, held in Los Angeles.
Reko Rennie $5,000 Reko was the first Aboriginal Australian artist to be invited to exhibit at the Le M.U.R. Association in Paris. Funding from the Creative Industries Career Fund supported this.
Robyn Rowland $3,700 With support from the Creative Industries Career Fund, Robyn participated in the 49th Sarajevo Poetry Days Festival.
Santina Amato $2,000 Santina used CAL funding to take up an artist in residence program in Los Angeles by Raid Projects International.
Simmone Howell $3,000 Simmone used funding from the Creative Industries Career Fund to speak at the 2010 Worlds Literacy Festival in Norwich and theEdinburgh International Book Festival.
Catherine Terese $3,700 Catherine attended the Bedell nonfiction conference(NonfictionNow) at the University of Iowa with support from the Creative Industries Career Fund.
Jenny Niven $3,960 CAL funding supported Jenny’s attendance at the International Literature Festival in Berlin.
Kabita Dhara $2,800 Kabita participated in a one-day forum organised by the German Book Office in New Delhi, focusing on issues concerning the international publishing world.
Melanie Ostell $4,924 Melanie used funding from the Creative Industries Career Fund to attend the 2010 Frankfurt Book Fair.
Sinisa Mackovic and Robert Milne $4,502 Funding from the Creative Industries Career Fund enabled Sinisa and Robert to exhibit at the 2010 New York Art Book Fair.
Stephen Gilchrist $4,736 With support from the Creative Industries Career Fund, Stephen curated an exhibition in Virginia, USA, showcasing video work by Christian Thompson.
Jeremy Fisher $1,476 Jeremy attended and presented a paper at the Australian Association of Writing Programs conference.
