Quasi-government bodies

If your organisation is not part of or authorised by the Crown or sometimes doesn’t copy for the services of the Crown – the Copyright Agency’s Government Licensing team can arrange a GovCopy Licence directly with your organisation.

Organisations with a GovCopy Licence may use up to 10% of copyright material. This includes reproductions and communications including internal emailing and uploading of copyright material to intranets.

The GovCopy Licence enables your organisation to make unlimited numbers of copies of:

  • 10% of the number of pages in a hard copy work or one chapter;
  • 10% of the number of words in a digital work or one chapter; and
  • An article or several articles if they relate to the same subject matter.

All of the above can be done under the GovCopy Licence without needing to contact the copyright owner directly.

Copyright Agency’s licences cover an extensive range of works. Nevertheless, some works have been specifically excluded.
