Information for clients of Media Monitoring Organisations

Engaging a media monitoring organisation that is licensed by Copyright Agency means, above all, that your media monitoring service is paying Copyright Agency’s members for the use of their valuable news and journalism.

Media Monitoring Organisations that are licensed by Copyright Agency act as Copyright Agency’s agent to provide a grant of rights to their clients. These rights, called the Downstream Licence, provide a base level of copyright coverage for their clients to copy and share news articles to employees and directors within their organisation.

The current terms and conditions are below, or they can be obtained from your licensed media monitoring organization.

Downstream Licence Terms as at 1 October 2025
