In Case You Missed It: Top 50 Aussie must-reads
February 14, 2022
Supporting Australian writers is one of the Copyright Agency’s on-going priorities and the Australian Booksellers Association’s ICYMI Top 50 promotion is an outstanding way to promote Australian books to readers. With support from the Cultural Fund in the most recent round of grants for organisations, the grant assists Australian booksellers to curate and promote 50 Australian books.
Launched at the end of January and running for a month, ICMYI Top 50 (short for In Case You Missed It) promotes 50 must-read Australian books you might have missed during the pandemic.
Browse the list of available titles here, which feature an impressive selection of Australian books published between 2020-21. Ranging from fiction, crime, poetry, memoirs, and anything in-between, there is something for everyone!
Australian Booksellers Association CEO Robbie Egan says, “Bookstores are responsible for launching many an author and this grant will enable us to go to market with a significant communication campaign that has the backing and gravitas of the Copyright Agency to ensure that the people who get paid last – the authors – are able to receive the support they so richly deserve.”
The campaign aims to celebrate Australian writing and re-invigorate the excitement around browsing local bookshops, where readers are bound to discover their next great read or favourite writer.
Local bookstores need our support more than ever. Like many other businesses, they have faced major challenges as a result of the pandemic.
Until February 28, you can purchase any of these books in your local bookstore at 20% off the recommended retail price. Click here to see all participating stores. This is a great opportunity to kick off your reading goals for the year, while supporting your favourite bookshops at the same time!
