Vale Dr Ian Reinecke AM

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Ian Reinecke AM on Christmas Day. Ian was a respected leader in Australia’s technology, communications and public policy landscape.
Among his many senior roles, Ian served as CEO of the National E-Health Transition Authority and also advised on technology capability for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Alongside this work, he was an author and commentator, publishing books that explored telecommunications, technology and their broader social and economic implications. Ian was a valued Director of Copyright Agency’s Board from 2002 to 2009, having brought skills in the area of information and communications strategy and policy development to the company.
In 2012, he was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for service to information technology, recognition that reflected not only his expertise, but his commitment to building health systems that served the public good.
Our deepest condolences to Ian’s wife, Julianne Schultz (a long-standing Copyright Agency member and former board director), their children and extended family, friends and colleagues.
