Copyright Agency’s Publishing Fellowships are designed to support mid-career professionals working in the Australian book publishing industry.
These Fellowships support career development for individuals seeking to strengthen their skills and knowledge through a self-directed project that contributes to their professional growth and the broader book publishing industry.

Who can apply
The Fellowship is open to Australian individuals working in trade and educational book and resource publishing, with a minimum of five years’ experience working in-house or freelance for a publishing company or the equivalent at an Australian literary agency. Eligible applicants working in editorial, marketing, rights, and sales should demonstrate a clear strategy for their Fellowship and include specific details about the project.
Amount of grant: You can apply for up to $15,000

Key Dates
- Applications close 1pm AEST 1 June 2026
- Applicants notified late July 2026
- Projects should start from early September 2026 and must be completed by 31 August 2027
Past Fellow’s and their projects
In 2026, three Fellows will embark on a variety of topics to deepen their expertise, broaden perspectives and contribute new insights to the Australian publishing landscape. Their research explores developing innovative publishing practices, building international connections, and initiatives focused on expanding access to diverse voices.
