About Us

Copyright Agency is an Australian not-for-profit organisation, established in 1974, whose core role is negotiating, collecting and distributing copyright fees for writers, artists and publishers under collective licensing arrangements.

We have collective licensing arrangements with the education, government and business sectors.

We also manage pay-per-use licences for individual works (primarily artworks)the artists resale royalty scheme, a Cultural Fund, and royalties for surveying firms.

In 2024–25 we allocated $113m to 27,000 recipients, indirectly benefiting many others involved in the creative industries such as in-house writers and illustrators.
