The Copyright Agency is a major sponsor of the awards for company annual reports, the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA), which will take place in Melbourne on 19 June.

Copyright Agency’s Director of Commercial Licensing, Guy Johnson, says, “It’s the second year we’re sponsoring the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA). We support good governance in all its forms and we are very pleased to sponsor the Special Award for Governance Reporting, which recognises quality and completeness of disclosure in reporting on governance.”

Established in 1950, the ARA helps organisations to improve their reporting standards and recognises excellence in this area. Now in its 69th year, the ARA has been at the forefront of change in improving the quality of organisational reporting to stakeholders. The ARA encourages organisations to provide accurate information about their purposes, activities and performance (the bad as well as the good); and on sustainability and future prospects.

The ARA Awards are open to all organisations in Australia, New Zealand, and countries in the Asia-Pacific Region and elsewhere that prepare an annual report: companies, government departments and agencies, and not-for-profit bodies including charities.

ARA Patron, Hugh Morgan, AC, says, ”I know from experience that entering the ARA Awards is a very effective way of obtaining an independent assessment of how well your annual report meets the information needs of your stakeholders.”

ARA entrants and anyone interested in reporting is invited to attend the ARA Seminar on 20 June. The 2019 Seminar on Reporting, Key concepts in annual reporting, will focus on the most important elements of annual reporting that are needed to ensure organisations are able to communicate effectively with their stakeholders. Seminar topics will range from the role of the annual report in enhancing reputation and trust and the importance of transparent and complete ESG (environmental, social and governance) disclosures, to sessions in which consistent ARA Award winners will share practical ‘how-to’ hints and tips on how to prepare an effective annual report – and how to do it effectively!

As a major sponsor Copyright Agency will be moderating the How reputation and trust can be enhanced through a company’s annual report session, and will be offering information on copyright licensing in a dedicated area. See the full seminar program on the ARA website.
