Join us for the upcoming Brian Johns Annual Lecture, featuring guest speaker, investigative journalist Kate McClymont.
The topic of this year’s lecture is “Democracy’s Detectives: Investigative Journalism and the Importance of Never Turning a Blind Eye”.
Kate will draw on her distinguished career with the Sydney Morning Herald, where she has become renowned for uncovering issues ranging from political corruption to serious fraud, and environmental pollution to medical malpractice. In the lecture, Kate will explore the vital role of investigative journalism in holding power to account, and the challenges faced by journalists in operating without fear or favour.
Kate McClymont is an investigative journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald. She is an ten-time Walkley Award winner, including the Gold Walkley for her coverage of the Bulldogs salary cap rorts.
