Insights provides copyright information for creators and publishers, and is host to an impressive panel of acclaimed Australian creators. The panel will discuss how recent changes to simplify the Copyright Act will work and what the Productivity Commission’s controversial recommendations on copyright could mean for Australia’s creative industries.

The rights of creators are under threat. The Productivity Commission’s recent recommendation to introduce a US style ‘fair use’ copyright exception, among other proposed changes, could undermine one of the foundations of creativity and innovation in Australia.

We welcome you to attend our information session and panel discussion on the importance of copyright in cultivating Australian stories.

Learn about first principles of copyright in Australia and how they empower creators and publishers.

3pm – 4pm: Fair Use, Fair For Who?

This panel discussion will focus on the Productivity Commission’s recent recommendation to introduce a US style ‘fair use’ copyright exception. Our panelists Sofie Laguna, Adele Ferguson, Mizz De Zoysa and Adam Suckling will debate the uncertainty of creating and publishing without the current protections.
