Manager supports Indigenous artists

April 5, 2017

The Copyright Agency | Viscopy has appointed a new Indigenous Engagement Manager, Jade Christian, to work with Indigenous artists, particularly in remote areas, to educate them about copyright and their resale royalty rights. She is integral to the implementation of the company’s Reconciliation Action Plan and also works closely with our partner organisations, such as Arts Law and the Indigenous Art Code, on campaigns such as Fake Art Harms Culture.

Jade is from Erub Island in the eastern region of the Torres Strait Islands.

Jade’s professional experience expands beyond her recent experience in film and television industry and stretches into the arts, justice and community sectors. She’s held various stakeholder and community engagement roles across NGO and Government at organisations such as the Australia Council for the Arts, National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, the ABC, SBS and most recently NITV.

Jade is passionate about mentoring the next generation of practitioners within the creative arts industry. Her personal philosophy is to deliver unique and often untold stories of First Nations people to all Australians.
