About the Scheme
The Resale Royalty Scheme entitles visual artists and other rightsholders to receive a 5% royalty when eligible artworks are resold for $1,000 or more in Australia. From 31 March 2024, resale royalty entitlements expanded to include 17 countries with reciprocal arrangements, with a further 9 countries added in March 2025. Copyright Agency was appointed by the Australian Government to manage the Scheme in 2010. Since then, the Scheme has generated over $16 million in royalties for artists.
